THE SCHOOL OF MUSIC AND THEATER at HEIDELBERG UNIVERSITY
Since 2000, I have taught composition and theory for the School of Music at Heidelberg University. The School of Music offers degrees in the following areas:
Bachelor of Arts/Sciences in Music
Bachelor of Arts/Sciences in Music, with a concentration in Popular Music Studies
Bachelor of Arts in Theater
Bachelor of Music degrees in:
Also offered: minor programs in music and theater
The Bachelor of Music degree in Composition/Theory allows students to pursue the serious study of composition for future careers in the classical or popular music fronts. Additional studies in music theory inform the young composer of the theoretical basis behind their own creativity; background in theory studies is also highly advantageous for those students who wish to consider graduate study.
Graduates of the program have gone on to active composition and teaching careers. Recent graduates have completed graduate degrees at a number of institutions, including the University of Michigan, The University of Missouri at Kansas City, The University of Miami, Florida, and Ohio University.
Students at Heidelberg have the support of students and faculty in having their works performed on campus. Contact with guest composers and performers enrich their understanding of music and the many ways that contemporary composers may choose to express their ideas. Join us in Tiffin and begin the study of composition in a warm, supportive liberal arts environment!
